Our history

In the 80 's a group of little ladies with a great hart for animals in Brussels, decided to help the animals. They realized that a lot of dogs and cats were abandoned, abused of even used for vivisection. Armed with their courage and patience they worked on a small scale to save them from their sad fate.

At that time there were not enough associations that could welcome animals in Brussels. Moreover, they were overcrowded. It was then that, with lots of hope and perseverance, Help Animals was created. The shelter, located in Anderlecht, is a place where all animals have a right to live!

The project keeps expanding. Moreover, and luckily so, the animal cause becomes everyday more popular. Finaly, thanks to the increase in donations, Help Animals takes the long road that will allow it to take its current form. It is by the impetus provided by a former volunteer, Stéphanie Devis, now president of the association, that Help Animals realizes a leap in its development. Not only cats and dogs suffer in Belgium, the health of farm animals is also a real challenge.

In order to give them the right infrastructure Help Animals, Help Animals expands by opening, initially, a shelter in Courcelles in 2010. Later, and to be even more performing, the association opens a second shelter in Braine-le-Château. It takes 4 years of renovations to allow it to welcome all types of animals in the best conditions.

Currently a member of the Brussels Animal Welfare Council, Help Animals has become over the years a major player recognized in the animal welfare and protection sector.
